Lakmé Fashion Week has joined forces with IMG Reliance again to bring three up-and-coming labels to Chennai for its 'Gen Next on the Road' showcase with a ten-day pop-up.

The Loom Art is part of LFW's Gen Next showcase in Chennai - Lakme Fashion Week

From January 22 to 30, Gen Next on the Road is holding a shoppable exhibition for brands Mishe, Dhatu Design Studio, and The Loom Art, it announced in a press release. The showcase is hosted by Chennai’s multi-brand luxury Indian fashion boutique Amethyst and is designed to help the brands to reach new customers and expand.

At the showcase, The Loom Art by Aarushi Kilawat is presenting a collection titled ‘Between the Lines’, inspired by the world we currently live in. The collection features the Japanese technique Arashi Shibori and textiles including Chanderi and Matka silk. With an icy colour palette and oversized and tailored fits, the collection has a modern, thoughtful feel.

Mishe by Bhumika and Minakshi Ahluwalia is presenting a collection named ‘Shuwa’, inspired by sign language and how people use it to communicate. The collection has a muted colour palette and experimental silhouettes and uses sustainable fabrics made from materials including orange peel, banana, handwoven cotton, and handwoven jute.

Dhatu Design Studio by Anmol Sharma’s offering is a collection titled ‘Ahimsa’ and is intended to promote respect for all living things and avoidance of violence towards others. With aesthetics inspired by modern architecture and the importance of community-led development, the collection is made from hemp, Ahimsa silk (where no silk worms are killed in the production process), handwoven denim, and organic cotton.
