Lakme Fashion Week’s new initiative The Spotlight invites designers to explore the theme ‘Utopia: A Designer's Journey’, it announced on Facebook. The contest aims to facilitate designers to make an immersive fashion film to showcase their latest collection and reach a new, wider audience.

“Utopia presents an ideal society living on a fictitious island, described in a traveler’s tale,” Lakme Fashion Week described the theme on Facebook.

“It is deliberately ambiguous, not concerned by the future but rather places importance on the process of dreaming in the now.”

Designs submitted to the contest must be in line with Nexa’s ‘create, inspire’ ethos and in the menswear, womenswear, and/or accessories category. For a chance to feature in The Spotlight, brands must have also been running for over three years. Applications for the contest closed on February 12 after the deadline was extended.

Lakme Fashion Week is also showcasing work by up-and-coming fashion illustrators on its Facebook page. A group of fashion illustration students from institutions including INIFD Hyderabad and Udaipur have created art based on the recent online edition of Lakme Fashion Week.
