Lakme Fashion Week’s The Platform to host Bloni, Salita Nanda, and SWGT

On August 24, Lakme Fashion Week will host The Platform and showcase three up-and-coming brands’ latest collections on the runway in collaboration with Smartwater.

The Platform has returned to Lakme Fashion Week for its ongoing winter/ festive edition. The design mentorship programme sponsored by Smartwater gives young, innovative designers the chance to bring their brand to a national stage. This season, Bloni, Salita Nanda, and SWGT were selected for the programme. 

Bloni by Akshat Bansal will showcase a collection titled “Ambush” on Saturday. The winter/ festive collection will include both menswear and womenswear with dark hues and fusion wear elements. The brand released its pre-fall collection “Sonic” on its social media on August 19 which included dark colours, floaty gowns with dip-dye elements for women and modern, smart-casual styles for men. 

Salita Nanda, who launched her eponymous brand in 2015, will present a collection that mixes bright colours and patchwork appliqué techniques with more simple garments for a wearable yet innovative look. Nanda is inspired by both her Indian heritage and time spent in London and creates designs for her vision of the modern woman. 

SWGT by Shweta Gupta will present a collection titled “Verdant Valleys” for its winter/ festive showcase. The womenswear collection is inspired by nature and SWGT’s thoughtful take on femininity. The brand uses indigenous textile techniques but takes more minimally structured garments as its base such as tunics and loose dresses to mix tradition with innovation. 

Lakme Fashion Week began on August 21 and runs until August 25 at the St Regis in Mumbai. The fashion week is sponsored by Lakme, IMG Reliance, and Nexa and celebrates its 20th birthday with this winter/ festive edition.
