LA India Fashion Week celebrates desi design in the US
LA India Fashion Week brought together a number of Indian fashion designers based in both India and the US for a fashion showcase at the Sheraton Cerritos Hotel in Los Angeles.
With the aim of promoting Indian fashion in the US, LA India Fashion Week hosted a number of runway shows for designers and brands including Rohitava, Prety Patel’s PbyPrety Collection, Aanchal Designer Gallery, Lam Tran, Frontier Heritage, Sari Palace, and finale designer Avnee Mithaiwala. The event was produced by Smita and Kishore Vasant. Smita Vasant was presented with an award from both the Artesia Chamber of Commerce and the Indo-American Cultural Society of North America for her work to showcase Indian culture in the US.
The event held its finale on October 13. Designer Avnee Mithaiwala presented a collection for her womenswear brand “Namaslay Collective” which featured bohemian styles and fusion elements. Mithaiwala used traditional Indian textiles for create festival ready and free-spirited style dresses.
The event also held a closed launch party on October 11 which the aim of encouraging designers to network with designers from other locations as well as buyers. Highglow Jewelers presented its latest collection of occasion wear jewellery at the event which was held at its Artesia boutique.
