The ninth annual La Classe runway show will take place at the Suryadatta Institute of Fashion Technology’s Pune campus on Saturday, the event announced on Facebook. The theme for the upcoming fashion show is ‘The Journey of Khadi Fabric from India to the World’, in celebration of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, who was a champion of Khadi fabric.

“The fabric that was initially available only in a single almond hue is now present in 30 appealing shades,” the event announced on Facebook. “As the Khadi fabrics have grabbed the eyeballs of international fashion designers, we are present here to flaunt the seven variations of Khadi apparels.”

The show’s seven themes are ‘Draped Drama’, ‘Khadi-metric’, ‘Psychedelic Khadi’, ‘Framing Love’, ‘Khadism’, ‘Dual World’, and ‘Techno Mode’. Student designers will interpret Khadi for a modern wardrobe and the occasion will give them the chance to kick-start their fashion careers.

The event’s media partner is the Times of India and the runway show is organised by the Suryadatta Group of institutes.
