The 38 girls were shortlisted from over 400 contenders from cities like Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Manipur, and Punjab. The model hunt also saw participation by contestants from countries like Brazil and Columbia.

Commenting on the event, FDCI chairman Sunil Sethi in a statement said, “We are trying to open channels of communication by making fashion an effective vehicle for spreading inclusivity. It doesn’t matter where you come from, if you have a goal, we will help you actualise it.

“We are delighted to announce a crackling model line-up at LMIFW SS’20 which is not defined by the industry’s restrictive rules,” he added.

The 34th edition of the India Fashion Week will be held from October 9 to 13 at the National Stadium in the capital city New Delhi.

FDCI has also announced Ebixcash, the Indian subsidiary of Atlanta-based multinational Ebix as the associate sponsor for the event.
