Amit Jain will step into his role as the new India Managing Director for L’Oréal relacing Jean-Christophe Letellier. The brand has announced that Letellier will shift within the L’Oréal business after spending a total of five years in the position.

Jain will be the first Indian to occupy the brand’s post of Managing Director since L’Oréal entered India for the first time in 1991. Jain has previously worked for companies including Coca-Cola, Viacom, and ICI over the past 30 years and his last position was as Managing Director for Northwest Europe for Akzo Nobel where he was based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

“We believe that Amit’s rich global experience with a deep understanding of India, transformational leadership skills and inclusive personality will be an important asset in further developing L’Oréal’s business in India,” L’Oréal’s Vice President for the South Asia Pacific Zone, Pierre-Yves Arzel, said in a statement. “His mission is to build on our rich talent base and global brands, to make L’Oréal India an engine for growth in Asia.”

As L’Oreal follows an autonomous policy for its India business, Jain will have a lot of decision making power in his new role. The brand’s main rivals in India are Unilever and Procter & Gamble and Jain will be working to grow the business' market share in the country.
