KVIC presented "Khadi Goes Chic" on day two of LFW as a showcase of how sustainable and traditional Khadi textiles can be worn in a modern way. Tres Emmé provided hair styling and makeup was created by Lakmé cosmetics.

The runway had a large loom sculpture and oversized rope display and all four featured brands chose a natural hued colour palette to celebrate Khadi’s natural fibres.

Lars Andersson, a London-based knitwear and clothing brand, presented a 1920s inspired collection with loose, wearable white garments. Models wore thick, white hairbands and minimal makeup and clothing included wrap-coats, spaghetti strap drop-waist dresses, and button downs.

The Third Floor Clothing presented soft neutral toned collection with printed chiffon coats, loose shirts, and flowy skirts. The brand, which was launched last year in Colaba, showed looks with a natural, earthy feel.

Buna was inspired by florals for its winter festive collection which had a colour palette of dusty pinks and mustard yellows. Polka dots added a playful touch and the romantic collection featured peter-pan collars, ruffles, and full skirts.

Jewellyn Alvares, who also designs bridal wear under the brand name Jule Bridal, showed a menswear collection for his Converge label. The collection was relaxed with loose fitting button down shirts and casual trousers.

More theatrical looks included a floor length side-buttoning coat and sleeveless tailored jacket. The male models had abstract black shapes painted on their face and this contrasted the collection’s pastel hues.

KVIC is a government organisation that works to promote sustainable textiles in India and is closely aligned to the Union government’s “Make in India” campaign.

LFW is currently running from August 22 to 26 at the St Regis in Mumbai.
