KVIC exceeds job creation targets

The Khadi and Village Industries Commission set up over two lakh new projects creating over 5 lakh new jobs in the process during the last five years.
KVIC executed the projects under the Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), exceeding its target goals.
“The Khadi and Village Industries Commission, leading from the front, has created 20,63,152 new jobs and set up 2,67,226 new projects under its ambitious Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme in the last five fiscals, i.e. between 2014-15 to 2018-19,” KVIC chairman Vinai Kumar Saxena told PTI.
In 2018-19, the KVIC had been given a target of setting up 70,386 new PMEGP projects disbursing margin money of Rs 1,969 crore ($284.7 million) for creating 5,62,351 jobs. KVIC achieved 105 percent success in this process as it had set up 73,408 new projects, disbursing margin money of Rs 2,068 crore and creating 5,87,264 new jobs,” he added.
KVIC also witnessed strong sales during the fiscal year closing the year with sales of Rs 3,200 crore ($465.2 million) for FY 2018-19. It has around 18 sales outlets across India while various Khadi institutions across states have a total of 8,062 outlets.
