The relationship between Kith and Nike goes back many years and includes numerous sneaker collaborations and a pop-up shop location. The connection between Kith and Nike athletes, however, is unfamiliar territory, and the New York City-based lifestyle brand and retailer is exploring this new realm in a huge way.

Kith founder Ronnie Fieg teased on Instagram a collaboration with NBA superstar LeBron James, and the athlete followed with a video confirming that a collaboration is on the way.

LeBron is one of a few NBA stars to bridge the gap between high fashion and sports, as well as Dwyane Wade. Long before Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis nabbed partnerships with Barneys and Saks Fifth Avenue, respectively, LeBron made adventurous style choices seem normal and eventually cool. His new collaboration with Kith is an extension of his long-standing relationship with fashion.

LeBron isn’t the only current or former NBA star to partner with Kith. Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen also announced an upcoming project with Kith and shared behind-the-scenes photos of his shoot with the brand.

Pippen in 2016 also took part in Kith’s release of the Olympic Nike Air More Uptempo, which launched in 1996 and was first worn by Pippen in the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta.
