The company plans to set up its manufacturing units at the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal district.

The investment in Telangana comes days after Kitex decided to withdraw its investment planned in the state of Kerala citing harassment by politicians and government officials.

Commenting on the investment, Kitex Garments, managing director Sabu M. Jacob, in a statement said: “In principle, the Kitex Group has agreed upon a Phase- I investment of 1,000 crores within two years in the textile industry for the project ‘Textile Apparel’ in the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal.”

"This investment will generate an employment of 4,000 jobs in the state of Telangana," he added.

Kitex had complained about what it describes as harassment from officials in Kerala, including 10 raids on its premises, which appears to have contributed to its decision to withdraw its proposed investment in the state’s textile industry.

Kitex Garments had received formal offers from the state governments of Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Karnataka offering financial incentives to invest in the state as well as around 10 unofficial communications from other states.
