Khadim India opens first airport flagship store in Kolkata

Footwear brand Khadim India has opened its first flagship store located within an airport at the the domestic departure terminal at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata.

As Khadim India opens its first ‘travel retail’ store, the brand aims to tap into new customer demographics thanks to the large amount of traffic the location provides, the brand announced in a press release on July 13. The new store houses Khadim India’s multi-brand footwear selection from labels including British Walkers, Lazard, Sharon, Cleo, and PRO among others. The store also features accessories including bags, wallets, and belts.
 
“We as a brand have been overwhelmed with the response from our esteemed customers across the country,” said Khadim India’a director Rittick Roy Burman at the store launch, the brand announced in a press release. “The flagship airport store marks our entry into the airport retailing market which is evolving at a great pace. It is an important step for us to further raise brand awareness and engage with traveller consumers.”

“Our first airport flagship store is in line with our strategic expansion plan to engage in the popular global concept of airport retailing,” said brand CEO Namrata A Chotrani. “With the increase of travellers from all walks of life, the transit retail segment has taken a new dimension altogether. We understand the importance of being part of this growing retail segment as it provides a potential platform to boost our company’s growth and strengthen our retail presence. Khadim India Limited launched in the 1960s with a small shoe store in Chitpur, Kolkata. The brand now has a retail presence in 23 Indian states and one Union Territory with 206 company-owned stores.
