Day two of FDCI × Lakmé Fashion Week focused on sustainable fashion with an array of brands looking to modernise eco-friendly textiles and innovate responsible design solutions. Khadi India brought together brands Mossi, Abhishek Gupta Benares, Anavila, Anju Modi, Charu Parashar, and Rina Dhaka for a joint showcase to demonstrate just how versatile Khadi can be.

Mossi’s take on Khadi was elegant, clean, and inspired by architecture. Drapes and movement kept the garments wearable and the bold colour palette of red, white, and black made a strong statement.

Abhishek Gupta Benares’ menswear and womenswear collection put Khadi textiles front and centre, focusing on fabric manipulation and structure. The collection was Khadi for the modern Indian, from everyday life to formal occasions.

Anavila’s collection was created in collaboration with weavers from the Burdwan region in West Bengal and used natural dyes and modern-style Jamdani motifs to celebrate the region’s craft heritage. Anju Modi’s collection was feminine, delicate, and featured an array of occasion wear. The collection used a sattvic colour scheme including haldi, chandan, keshari, designed to have a harmonising effect.

Charu Parashar used Khadi to dress the modern bride for collection ‘The Khadi Bride’. Khadi silk was used for kurtas and sarees in metallic tones with opulent floral embroidery.

Rina Dhaka, a long-time champion of Khadi, focused on lightweight and skin-friendly textiles this season. With an off-white and cream colour palette, Dhaka played with textile to create an ethereal aesthetic. Actress Kangana Ranaut walked as the showstopper for the Khadi presentation in a white saree, overcoat, and ample jewels.
