Khadi Fashion Show to see participation by ten designers
The Khadi fashion show scheduled to be held in New Delhi on October 26 will see participation by ten budding fashion designers from across India. The fashion show will be curated by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI).
The participants for the fashion show were selected through an ‘All-India Khadi Designers Competition’ organised by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC).
“Khadi has been an instrument of social change in the pre-independence era and has transformed into a tool of resilience, resurgence and self-reliance in modern times. And from being a humble attire of the great freedom fighters, Khadi has evolved into a symbol of fashion and ultimate luxury,” KVIC chairman, Vinai Kumar Saxena, said in a statement.
“This was for the first time KVIC organized a pan-India designer contest and the overwhelming participation was in itself a manifestation of Khadi’s popularity among the youth,” he added.
The All-India Khadi Designers Competition received 462 nominations out of which ten top designers were selected for the fashion show.
