Pakistan-Based retailer Khaadi is continuing its UK expansion and will open its first store in Scotland with a debut at the giant Silverburn supermall in Glasgow.

The new store will cover over 2,700 sq ft and will be in a strong position next to luxury retailer Flannels and footwear specialist Schuh.

Khaadi currently has over 50 stores in its domestic market, as well as in the UAE and UK and recently announced another major opening in Britain with a debut at Intu’s Trafford Centre.

The name Khhadi means “hand-woven” in Urdu and the retailer makes a range of womenswear, menswear, kidswear, homewares, bags and accessories in traditional materials.

CEO Rehan Syed said that Scotland is an emerging market for the brand, and it was important to choose a location for its debut with strong footfall and a high profile.

Silverburn also recently saw JD Sports upsizing its presence there with a doubling in size that took its store to almost 13,0000 sq ft across two floors.

Iain Mitchell, UK commercial director at Silverburn operator Hammerson, said such openings  demonstrate “the centre’s reputation as a leading retail and leisure destination” and help the landlord to provide “the strong and varied tenant mix that Silverburn is renowned for.”
