Kaveri show features Shabana Azmi at Lakme Fashion Week

Kaveri showcased a feminine yet rustic collection on the runway at Lakme Fashion Week and Bollywood actress Shabana Azmi walked as the brand’s showstopper for the winter/ festive season.

With a colour palette of neutral tones, greys, and soft gold metallics, Kaveri’s collection was both ethereal and earthy. Loose silhouettes and over-sized ruffles made for a high-fashion take on shabby-chic and shorter dresses added a more youthful feel. The Chennai-based brand, founded by Kaveri Lalchand in 2011, specialises in linen textiles and chose to use them for the winter/ festive season along with sheer textiles and subtle stripes. 

Models including Anjali Lama wore their hair in soft waves and had 60s-esque large white drawn-on eyelashes. Flowers and sandals also added to the home-spun nature of the collection. Azmi closed the show in one of the only black ensembles of the collection complete with pastel pink ruffled shawl and under-skirt. 

The month of August also saw Kaveri tour India with its “Everyday Beautiful” event. The pop-up shopping event traveled to Ahmedabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Pune, and Hyderabad from August 2 to 20 to showcase Kaveri’s brand of feminine ready-to-wear. The brand also took part in Ogaan’s multi-brand pop-up “The Artisan’s Bazaar” this month in Delhi and held a “Meet the Designer” event at Ogaan’s Hyderabad store.

Lakme Fashion Week ran from August 21 to 25 at the St Regis in Mumbai and this season saw the event celebrate its 20th birthday.
