Kappil Kishor receives award for excellence in fashion

The chairman of the Vaatsaalyaa Charitable Trust for Education and fashion industry veteran, Kappil Kishor, has been awarded with a Doctorate in Fashion Technology from the International Tamil University, US, and an Excellence Award bestowed upon him in London.

A veteran of the Indian fashion industry, Kappil Kishor has now won international acclaim for his work with fashion students. Kishor founded the Vaatsaalyaa Charitable Trust for Education two decades ago and, since then, has worked with fashion students in India and shared his knowledge of the industry. Kishor’s organisation works to pair deserving students with fashion professionals to help them kick-start their career. 

Kishor was also recently awarded the Top Hundred Masterpiece Award and the Everest Award by Zoomdelhi as well as the Gem of India Award, 2019, by the All India Achievers Conference. Kishor has worked as a professor of fashion for the past 20 years at institutions including the National Institute Fashion Technology (NIFT), the Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI), the International College of Fashion, and the JD Institute of Fashion Technology.

At the end of last year, Kishor played an instrumental role in Couture Runway Week which took place in collaboration with Abhimanch and the Global Fashion Federation in New Delhi. The event gave fashion students and Next Gen designers a platform to showcase their creations.
