Kankatala Sarees opens eleventh brick-and-mortar store in Kukatpally, Hyderabad

Saree brand Kankatala Sarees opened its eleventh store in India in Kukatpally, Hyderabad on June 21. The 5,000 square-foot store is the brand’s second outlet in Hyderabad. 

 
On Monday, Kankatala Sarees held a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony with CMD Mallik Kankatala and family and opened the doors to its new store, the brand announced in a press release. The store houses over 20,000 sarees sourced from 50 weaving clusters across India. Prices range from Rs 1,000 ($13.45) to Rs 5 lakh and the store houses a range of handloom weaves including Kanchipuram, Banarasi, Patola, Ikat, Paithani, Kota, Uppada, Khadi, Jamdani, Organza, Kalamkari, Gadwal, and Tussar.
 
“We are delighted with the love and support our patrons have showered us with for the last 77 years and have constantly encouraged us to grow,” said Kankatala Sarees’ chairman Mallikarjuna Rao Kankatala in a press release.

“The launch of this store, too, is one such example. A lot of our clientele comes from this area of Hyderabad and had to commute all the way to Jubilee hills to shop at our store. So on their demand, we decided to open this store and even today, they have overwhelmed with love by marking their presence.”
 
Each saree in the new store has been hand-picked by a member of the Kankatala family. The brand describes itself as one of the oldest saree brands in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and has operated for over 77 years.
