The brand recently launched a collection titled ‘A Million Sitas’ inspired by Sita of the Ramayana and created for classical and contemporary dancer Anita Ratnam. The collection draws inspiration from Ratnam’s feminist retelling of the Ramayana which explores various women who played a large role in the narrative yet remained in the shadows.
The collection features a curated selection of sarees which represent the different female characters Ratnam presents in her performance. The collection is available on Kanakavalli’s online store.
Kanakavalli launched in 2014 in Chennai and specialises in Kanjivaram sarees. The brand retails from its stores in Chennai, Coimbatore, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.
