Kalyan Jewellers to invest Rs 10 crore for Covid-19 relief work

Kalyan Jewellers has earmarked an investment of Rs 10 crore ($1.4) million to support the government towards the cause of fighting the novel coronavirus Covid-19 disease.

The company will partner with local and government bodies to help them in their relief work. It has said that providing food and other essentials to the vulnerable sections of society will be its top priority.
 
Kalyan Jewellers had earlier assured all its employees across the country that it will continue to pay full salaries to them during the lockdown period.

Commenting on the fund, T S Kalyanaraman chairman and managing director of Kalyan Jewellers in a statement said: “The situation created by Covid-19, and the tremendous impact that the pandemic has had on humanity globally, is unprecedented. These have proved to be very challenging times, and our Central and State Governments are doing everything they can, to combat this.”
 
“We at Kalyan Jewellers understand the magnitude of this crisis, and would like to extend our humble contribution of Rs 10 crore towards the fight against Covid-19,” he added.
 
The Kerala-based Kalyan Jewellers is one of the largest jewellery manufacturers and distributors in India. It currently has around 144 showrooms across India.
