KVIC strengthens khadi’s global presence, secures trademarks in Bhutan, UAE, Mexico

Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), the statutory body for khadi under the ministry of MSME, has strengthened its brand’s global presence by securing trademark registrations in countries like Bhutan, UAE, and Mexico.

KVIC is looking to further strengthen its international presence in the coming months and has already by trademark applications in 40 countries including the U.S., Qatar, Sri Lanka, Japan, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Brazil, among many others.
 
Currently, KVIC has secured trademark registrations for khadi in nine countries with the others being Germany, the UK, Australia, Russia, China, and EU.

“In recent years, Khadi’s popularity has seen massive growth in India and abroad due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to adopt Khadi and it has become very important for KVIC to protect the identity of Khadi and safeguard the interest of consumers and lakhs of Khadi artisans who are manufacturing genuine Khadi products,” in a statement said KVIC chairman Vinai Kumar Saxena.

With the trademark registrations, KVIC will be able to sell official khadi products that includes fabric, readymade garments, khadi soaps, khadi cosmetics, khadi incense sticks, and among others.
