KVIC holds training programme in Varanasi, review meeting in Hyderabad

The Government of India’s Khadi and Village Industries Commission recently completed a workshop in Varanasi to promote sustainable crafts as a means for employment and held its review meeting in Hyderabad.

 
KVIC held a 10-day training programme under the Kumbhakar Sashaktikaran Mission at the Gandhi Ashram in Sewapuri, Varanasi, the organisation announced on Facebook. The workshop aimed to encourage people to learn and pursue sustainable handicrafts by teaching skills such as how to make clay homeware and accessories. The programme is part of KVIC’s wider plan to increase handicraft production and exports in line with the Union Government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.
 
The organisation also held a review meeting at the Nimsme campus in Hyderabad on February 25. KVIC’s chairman Vinai Kumar Saxena addressed the audience and summarised KVIC’s recent initiatives and goals for the future. 

KVIC has recently taken its ‘National Level Awareness Programme’ to a number of cities, most recently to Dehradun and Bareilly earlier in the week. The programme aims to raise awareness about employment opportunities in the micro, small, and medium enterprise field in sectors including handloom textiles and crafts items.
