KVIC holds Khadi Nepal event in Kathmandu

The Union Government’s Khadi and Village Industries Commission traveled to Nepal to host “Khadi Nepal” in Kathmandu. The event showcased Khadi fashion from Nepal and India on the runway to promote the sustainable weave.
Brands that featured in the runway show included Sabah Nepal from Nepal and Kotwara, Charu Parashar, and Tara Bhuyan from India. Sabah Nepal, which brings together artisans from across the country, showcased designs for both men and women made from traditional Nepali Dhaka textiles, topis, and fusion wear.
The event took place on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti and was organised by the Embassy of India in Nepal in partnership with the South Asia Foundation as part of its Gandhi at 150 celebrations. The Ambassador of India in Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri was chief guest at the event which took place at the Indian Embassy’s India House in Lainchaur, Kathmandu.
The show was directed by Liza Varma and its hospitality partner was Park Village Resort. The event aimed to showcase the diversity of Khadi textiles and promote exchange between the two nations.
The event’s sponsors included Nepal Investment Bank, Honda, and the Chaudhary Foundation. Supporting businesses included Surya Nepal, Tata HS, Jag Shakti, Unnati, and Nepal SBI Bank.
