KVIC bags Rs 8 crore worth order from Air India

Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has bagged an order worth Rs 8 crore (approx $1.2 million) from the country’s national air carrier Air India for supply of 1.85 lakh units of 'khadi' amenity kits consisting of khadi herbal beauty care products.

This is Air India’s second order for khadi products from KVIC which will be sold on its international flights Last year; Air India had placed an order worth Rs 11 crore for khadi amenity kits.
 
Commenting on the order, KVIC Chairman Vinai Kumar Saxena said, “The latest order will also support in providing sustainable employment through micro enterprises to rural artisans.

KVIC has been collaborating with government bodies and corporate firms to boost the sales of Khadi products across the globe.
 
Major orders received by the KVIC from government agencies last year included supply of goods to 23 central government hospitals (Rs 150 crore), ONGC (Rs 52 crore), railways (Rs 42 crore), Air India (Rs 11 crore) and JK White Cement (Rs 17 lakh).
 
Apart from that KVIC has also received orders from Raymond Ltd and Aditya Birla Group for their khadi apparel brands.
 
With such orders and collaborations, KVIC had registered a sharp 25 percent jump in revenue to Rs 2,503 crore in fiscal 2017-18.
