Jyothy Labs Q2 profit jumps 16 percent to Rs 54 crore

FMCG firm Jyothy Laboratories Ltd witnessed a 16 percent surge to Rs 54 crore ($7.7 million) in its net profit for the second quarter, as against Rs 46 crore it had reported in the year-ago period.

The company’s revenue for the July-September quarter rose 9 percent to Rs 475 crore, as against Rs 418 crore it had reported in the corresponding period last year. The personal care segment of the brand contributed Rs 55 crore to its overall revenue.
 
Jyothy Labs' expenses for the quarter also shot up by 10 percent to Rs 418 crore, as compared to Rs 381 crore it had reported the previous fiscal.

On the back of strong numbers, the company continues to remain optimistic about the future despite the slowdown as it plans to expand its footprint across India.
 
"The quarter under review witnessed good growth in spite of slowdown in the economy. With the normal monsoon, we are hopeful for a good business performance in the coming quarters. We will continue to expand and strengthen our footprint by taking necessary actions," Jyothy Labs chairman and managing director, M P Ramachandran, said in a statement.
 
Jyothy Labs was established in 1983 and owns ten brands across categories with a strong presence in the personal care segment.
