JPDEPC to hold Jutexpo 2020 in Kolkata

The Jute Product Development and Export Promotion Council will hold Jutexpo 2020 from January 12 to 13, 2020, in Kolkata to showcase products made from Jute textiles and promote the weave internationally.

The Jutexpo trade show, which is organised in partnership with the Ministry of Textiles, will take place in “Kolkata - the Jute Capital of India,” the exhibition wrote on its website. The event aims to promote Jute textiles, which are both sustainable and part of India’s rich textile heritage, on the international market. 

Some of the Jute product categories which will be featured at the trade show include shopping bags, conference and office accessories such as laptop bags, commodity packing materials, footwear, fabrics, home décor, and fashion accessories. 

The trade show aims to welcome a large number of foreign buyers to expand the global distribution network of Jute textiles. As part of this initiative, the JPDEPC is offering a complimentary air faire and hotel stay for foreign buyers attending the fair. Government representatives, embassies, and trade bodies are also expected to attend the event, according to the Jutexpo website. 

The first day of the expo will kick off with an inauguration followed by the trade show proper and a cultural show. Day two will follow the expo with an awards ceremony. The event will take place at Maple Lawn at Kolkata’s PC Chandra Garden.
