Joom expands into Indian market

European marketplace Joom has expanded its operations into India with the aim of giving Indian exporters of all sizes entryways into the European market and beyond.

The business reported that 350 merchant businesses recently joined the platform as it is expanding deeper into India, ET Bureau reported. To date, Joom has explored cities including New Delhi, Mumbai, Indore, Ludhiana, Jaipur, Surat, and Roorkie to offer international trade opportunities to local businesses. 
 
“Indian merchants who started connecting to Joom at the beginning of 2022 have not only successfully mastered the platform but have made it to the top five of origins, showing an average increase of 50% per month since their launch,” said Joom’s head of Asia Pacific development Maxim Belov, ET Retail reported. 

Joom specialises in working with small and medium enterprises and links them with international buyers who can browse its multi-brand selection on its e-commerce store and shopping app. Over the past six years, the business has shipped 496,921,557 orders, as of May 2022, the business announced on Facebook. 
 
Joom was founded in Riga in Latvia and moved its headquarters to Lisbon in Portugal in 2023. The business’ e-commerce platform currently features product categories including fashion, jewellery, skincare, haircare, health and beauty, accessories, health supplements, and crystal healing and is thus focusing on onboarding businesses in India which cater to these categories.
