This year, JJ Valaya is celebrating three decades in fashion. The eponymous designer’s new collection not only marked this anniversary, but also marked the launch of its new all-new bridge-to-luxury brand, JJV.

Monochrome, graphic prints, and sleek silhouettes gave JJ Valaya’s new collection a modern feel steeped in traditional elegance. The luxury occasion wear brand’s take on sustainable fashion with Tencel is far from the earthy tones many expect to see when they hear the term and instead showed that eco-friendly textiles can look luxurious.

For women, leather-look obi-style belts, the brand’s signature belted sarees, and oversized animal print gave a slight resort feel. For the men, sharply tailored fusion-style suits paired with printed turbans had a bold effect.

The first physical edition of joint fashion week FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week is taking place at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium at India Gate in New Delhi from March 23 to March 27. The runway shows are broadcast live on the organisers’ respective websites and social media accounts this season and designers can retail their wares at the fashion week’s designer showroom segment.
