Jil Sander appoints Luca Lo Curzio as CEO
Jil Sander has a new CEO. The German label, owned since 2021 by the OTB group, owner of Diesel, Marni, Maison Margiela, Viktor & Rolf, has just recruited Luca Lo Curzio as its new CEO. An experienced manager in the luxury sector, who has been working since 2016 for the Piedmontese textile group specialising in high-end men's clothing Ermenegildo Zegna.
The latter will take up his position as of June 1 and will report to Ubaldo Minelli, the managing director of Renzo Rosso's fashion group, Jil Sander announced in a statement. At the head of OTB since the end of 2017, Minelli was also put in charge of Jil Sander in 2021, in the wake of the house's takeover. He has now found a successor to take over this role.
"Jil Sander is a brand with a very high potential for development. I am certain that Luca Lo Curzio, a manager with extensive international experience, will be able to guide the company towards a new growth path," he comments.
A graduate in Business Administration from the University of Rome La Sapienza, the new head of Jil Sander began his career at L'Oreal as a product manager. He then moved to the beverage division of Danone as a marketing manager.
In 2007, he joined the consulting firm Bain & Company, which he left after five years to join the eyewear giant Luxottica, where he headed global marketing for the sunglasses and luxury retail segment. In 2016, he arrived at Ermenegildo Zegna as marketing and digital director, and from 2020 he took over as head of the North America region.
With a full-time head, Jil Sander is expected to further accelerate its expansion. Style wise the brand has been led since 2017 by the creative duo of the German label, Lucie and Luke Meier, which completed its first full year at OTB in 2022. Since taking over the creative direction of the brand, sales have increased by 61% compared to 2021. The group did not disclose sales figures, but the house was a major contributor to OTB's growth last year, which reached total sales of €1.74 billion (+14%).
