Sustainable jewellery brand Foret has had to delay product launches as raw material imports from Europe have halted but the brand’s belief in sustainable production is stronger than ever.

“As a sustainable fashion brand, we maintain limited stocks and most of our products are made to order,” the brand’s founder Supriya Satam told FashionNetwork.com in an exclusive communication. “As some of our product categories and raw materials are primarily made in Europe, the worldwide halt to trade and transportation has pushed back the launch of our new products.”

The brand has not yet altered its business projections for the year but will remain responsive to the situation as it unfolds, said Satam. Foret had planned to launch a new product line by the end of March but has postponed the launch until after the lockdown ends.

Consumer demand for non-essential products such as fashion goods is expected to remain low after lockdown is lifted due to the financial strain the pandemic has put on most Indian households. “The lockdown has emphasised further our belief in sustainable fashion,” said Satam. “We have taken this period to further solidify our strategy and work on new concepts and material.”

The brand has also partnered with NGO Sankalpataru which works to provide a sustainable lifestyle to rural farmers. Foret has also committed to paying its team of employees in full and on time during lockdown, according to Satam, and has contributed to the Covid-19 Relief Fund.

Foret’s e-commerce store is still operating and orders will be distributed after regulations permit their delivery.
