Jet Airways offers online pre-orders for its in-flight boutique

As a first in India, Jet Airways’ in-flight duty free fashion, cosmetics, and jewellery are now available for pre-order online.

Jet Airways offers a range of fashion and lifestyle products to their travellers and their selection is now available to be ordered online ahead of the flight on international routes, a first for an Indian airline. Pre-orders are possible up to 30 days prior to travel and items available on the online boutique include watches, jewellery, fragrance, and fashion items.

Jayaraj Shanmugam, the Chief Commercial Officer of Jet Airways, said about the boutique’s online launch: “Guests of the airline will now be able to enjoy the luxury of shopping online for their favourite international, lifestyle brands from partner duty free stores at their convenience for having their purchases delivered on-board during their travel. In fact, guests with confirmed bookings on select international flights, can pre-book their orders of inflight duty free products at the airline’s website for delivery on-board their flights.”

In this way, the airline is putting a larger emphasis on shopping and pushing in-flight purchases as a way to raise their profit margins. Shanmugam explained that the increased emphasis on fashion and lifestyle goods for the airline is also an attempt to engage millennial customers who, according to Shanmugam, “are keen to savour experiences and explore more while travelling with us.” Moreover, Jet Airways has paired with a number of large e-commerce stores such as Big Basket and Flipkart for their rewards programme.
