Actress and singer Janelle Monáe has landed a starring role in the new Gap holiday campaign.

The Grammy-nominated recording artist has teamed up with the fashion brand on the latest edition of its 'Meet Me in the Gap' series, ringing in the festive season with a rendition of Freddie Scott's original version of "(You) Got What I Need." The star is joined by a cast of six choirs for the video clip, featuring a diverse range of singers from different backgrounds and genres. Naturally, the entire cast is clad in the brand's cozy winter knits.

"The Gap has been a part of my life since I was a little girl so it was very exciting to be involved in this campaign," said Monáe in a statement. "I love the unity of the 'Meet Me in the Gap' concept. It really reflects the idea that although we may be from different parts of the world, when we come together, we can create something magical."

The video, which is titled "To Making Music and Magic. To Perfect Harmony" and is directed by Paul Hunter, will be accompanied by a series of short videos and print images also underlining the campaign's message of optimism and togetherness. Launching on November 6, the campaign will span television, mobile, social, in store and digital.

Gap's ‘Meet Me In the Gap' campaign aims to encourage people to explore their similarities rather than their differences, often with a musical theme. The Fall 2017 video saw popstar Cher join forces with the rapper Future to perform a unique rendition of Sly and the Family Stone's "Everyday People".
