Mysore Fashion Week ran over last weekend and was sponsored by Crocs shoes. Jaheena’s show was one of the event’s standout moments both for her colourful gowns and traditional wear and her inclusive choice of models.

Models walked the runway in Crocs heels, a nod to the event’s sponsor, and pastel hued gowns were prominent for women while for men a mix of dhotis and suits featured bright colours and golden embroidery. Reshma Qureshi was chosen to both model for Jaheena and close the show with the designer herself. Qureshi is an acid attack survivor who now models and works with Make Love not Scars, an NGO that works to help those who have experienced an acid attack and to promote awareness.

Ahead of her fashion show, Jaheena Mujahid said on her Facebook: “A couple of months back I went live on air talking about the kind of work I do and I happened to mention how it would be such a wonderful thing to walk the ramp with real life heroes and survivors viz-a-viz the Bollywood celebs and stars. And as expected, my friends mocked me saying, I just said this to "gather some points" and it was easier said than done! So here I am, proudly announcing that, Reshma Qureshi, a 22 year old beautiful girl, a survivor of a ghastly acid attack, a vlogger, an activist, and a model shall walk the ramp for me at the Mysore Fashion Week 2017.”

Jaheena Mujahid is from Mysore but is now based in Bengaluru. Her eponymous clothing line carries both traditional wear and more western style ready to wear pieces.
