The brand is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary and founder and head designer, J J Valaya, put on a lavish runway show to celebrate, on the last show of the day for AIFW’s day one. The collection was traditional wear based and kurtas suitable for both day and evening wear were included along with opulently embellished sarees, lehengas, and gowns. Deep blue was a predominant colour paired with floral motifs but lighter hued looks also featured, including white and cream ensembles with bright orange embroidery. Menswear was all in black but different textures such as velvet for the jackets made the looks stand out.

J J Valaya is a designer and couturier from New Delhi and is one of the founding members of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI). Valaya launched his eponymous label in 1992 with his brother T J Singh and it was originally called House of Valaya. The brand has both ready to wear and couture lines and also makes bridal wear and uniforms.
