Fashion school Istituto Marangoni Mumbai held its first digital fashion showcase titled, ‘Synchronicity’, to highlight the work of its second year students completed during lockdown.

Istituto Marangoni Mumbai has launched its first ever digital fashion showcase - Istituto Marangoni- Facebook

“We are thrilled to be hosting ‘Synchronicity’, our first virtual fashion show that highlights our young designers’ talent at Istituto Marangoni Mumbai,” the academy’s COO, Tarun Pandey, told Elle India. “We are really very proud of all the hard work that these young creatives have put into their collections and are very happy to see how well they were received.”

All of the creations featured in the fashion film, which can be seen on Instagram, were made by students during lockdown as they attended virtual classes. The institute has also organised a number of online panels in India, as well as internationally, during this time.

“This virtual event culminates a particularly challenging year where we had to adapt to the current situation by transferring our lessons online, which provided us with a new perspective on teaching and embracing new opportunities,” said Pandey.

“In order to make this experience more special we increased cross-school masterclasses with faculty from our international Marangoni institutes in Europe. While this was done to enhance and manage learning during the pandemic, we plan to continue these even when all students are back at the school.”

Student collections that feature in the showcase include ‘Un Gender’ by Jharna Panchal, inspired by the need for equality for all genders and orientations and ‘Manic’ by Anushka Pillai, which was inspired by the workings of the mind.
