At the fourth edition of Intex South Asia, over 3,500 buyers from over 18 countries visited the trade show, the organisation said in a press release. Countries represented included Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, the UAE, Italy, UK, USA, Hong Kong, Thailand, and China among others and visitors spent the three day event networking and building business relations.

The show was jointly inaugurated by H.E. Shri. Taranjit Singh Sandhu, the High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, and Indira Malwatte, the Chairperson and CEO of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) among others. The event describes itself as the largest of its kind in the region and is an opportunity for international textile suppliers to showcase their fabrics including denim and yarns as well as accessories and services.

The India pavilion at the event included 45 companies and was organised by the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) and the Taiwan pavilion included 12 and was organised by the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF). According to the event’s press release, the organisers of both pavilions were “extremely happy” with the buyer footfalls and business opportunities facilitated by the event.

Buyer delegations from India, Taiwan, Nigeria and the UAE attended the show and brands including H&M, Next UK, George, Marks & Spencer, and Tesco brought their sourcing, merchandising and design teams to the event. “This comprehensive and must-attend trade show is making its mark in South Asia’s textile and apparel industry as well as amongst the global buyers who are increasing their presence at Intex South Asia,” said the event’s organisers in a press release.

The fifth edition of Intex South Asia will be held on November 20 to 22, 2019, at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Centre (BMICH) in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
