This November, Australia’s International Sourcing Expo will have a special focus on Jute textiles. The trade show will host a Jute Pavilion in partnership with the Jute Product Development and Export Promotion Council, the event announced in a press release. Around 10 of the JPDEPC’s member organisations will attend the trade show with the aim of promoting Jute to the Australian market.

The Jute Pavilion will feature products such as colourful shopping bags, beach bags, fashion carriers, footwear, and promotional totes. The area will allow Indian Jute exporters to network with Australian buyers.

“We are seeing a demand for Jute and Jute products in Australia so we are excited to welcome the Jute Product Development and Export Promotion Council to the 2019 International Sourcing Expo,” said the event organiser IEC Group’s global exhibitions director Julie Holt, according to the event’s press release. “The local market is increasingly seeking out more sustainable fibres and Jute is a reliable and viable option.”

“In terms of usage, global consumption, production, and availability, Jute is the second most important vegetable fibre after cotton,” said JPDEPC Chairman Neel Kamal Kankani, confident of Jute’s potential in the Australian market.

The trade show expects over 4,000 trade visitors to its two-day event which is combined with the Footwear and Leather Show Australia and the China Clothing Accessories Textiles Expo. The business to business event will also feature businesses from countries including China, Pakistan, Hong Kong, Fiji, Indonesia, Vietnam, and South Africa among others.
