Indian Sellers Collective (ISC), a body representing trade associations and Indian sellers across the country, have welcomed the Competition Commission of India's (CCI) order to suspend its approval for Amazon's deal with the Future Group.

The ISC believes that the order will set a benchwork for all pending cases against the multinational e-commerce platform and related parties.

Abhay Raj Mishra, ISC member and national coordinator in a statement said, “The current ruling will give a boost to our nationwide campaign to shun products of foreign e-commerce companies and embrace products of Indian sellers. It will galvanise consumers, enforcement agencies, and lawmakers to take firm action against erring MNC e-tailers to change their tack.”

Similarly, All India Online Vendors Association (AIOVA) has also demanded action against e-commerce firms in India for violation of foreign direct investment laws.

Last week, CCI imposed a penalty of Rs 202 crore ($26.5 million) on Amazon and suspended its approval for its deal with Future Coupons.

Following the order, Amazon has been under fire from traders and retailers across the country including the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) demanding suspension of its e-commerce portal in India.
