“We are elated to welcome Mahendra Singh Dhoni to the Indian Terrain family,” said the brand’s founder and chairman Venky Rajgopal, according to the brand’s press release issued on Monday.

“Our brand is represented by the ‘Spirit of Man’ logo and we believe that Mahendra Singh Dhoni truly exemplifies all the attributes that our brand stands for... His popularity across the country will help take the brand to the next level.”

“To associate with a Madras-born brand like Indian Terrain felt natural and appealing," said Dhoni at the event. "The brand seamlessly mirrors my off-the-field style. I look forward to an extraordinary innings with the brand.”

Indian Terrrain Fashion's managing director said that Dhoni's representation looks to spearhead brand popularity moving forward, as the company continues to expand its retail footprint across the country and looks to target younger men via new products.

“This association will help the brand in further strengthening its leadership position in the southern markets and aid rapid expansion in the north and east markets,” said the brand’s managing director Charath Narsimhan at the event. “With this new start, we are also looking to further refine our offerings under Terrain Jeans and build a unique collection for young Indians.”

Indian Terrain Fashions Limited retails smart-casual clothing in the premium section of the market. The brand opened its first brick-and-mortar store in 2000 and was listed in 2011 after it de-merged from its parent company.

The brand now has over 160 exclusive brand stores across India as well as a presence in over 1,350 other format stores and an e-commerce presence. Indian Terrain has reported its turnover as over Rs 900 crore ($135.3 million).
