Indian Institute of Gem and Jewellery launches retail training programme with Orra

The Indian Institute of Gem and Jewellery, Mumbai has joined forces with Rosy Blue-owned diamond jewellery retail chain, Orra, to launch a graduate retail training programme.

The new intensive 12-day training programme, named the ‘Orra Graduate Retail Trainee Scheme’, will employ over 100 trained IIGJ graduates as Retail Sales Associates, the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council announced on its website. The trainee employees will manage store operations at Orra’s new jewellery retail outlets located across India.     
 
The project launched with a function attended by Orra Limited’s managing director, Dipu Mehta, as
chief guest; the GJEPC’s executive director, Sabyasachi Ray, as guest of honour; former GJEPC chairman and IIGJ director, Sanjay Kothari; Orra’s CEO, Cecil De Santa Maria; Orra’s advisor of organisation development, Sudhir Sohoni; and head of institute, Sanjoy Ghosh.

The event saw the special guests introduce the sales training programme to the participants and share the future plans for the initiative. Orra representatives shared the brand’s ethos and vision and welcomed the new members on board.
 
Orra has a network of 42 stores in 24 cities and five global centres, according to its Facebook page. The diamond jewellery brand also retails from its dedicated e-commerce store, which houses its array of platinum, gold, diamond, solitaire, and spiritual jewellery, among other collections.
