From June 12 to 14, the business to business jewellery trade show brought Indian and international jewellery businesses to Jaipur, Rajasthan. The event was launched by the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council and inaugurated by its chairman Pramod Kumar Agrawal on Wednesday.

“The BSM has been organised with an objective to meet current business needs of silver jewellery industry and to further establish and strengthen new business opportunities and promote business globally,” said Agarwal at the event’s inauguration, as reported by JFM.

“The three-day business matching programme will be an ideal opportunity to showcase India’s strength and capabilities in manufacturing Silver jewellery which is in demand due to its exclusivity and craftsmanship, whether its machine-made or hand made.”

Other participating countries included Algeria, Spain, Egypt, Ireland, Jordan, the UAE, and Kuwait. A number of networking events were designed to help businesses discuss supply chain, how to strengthen businesses globally, and how to promote the silver jewellery industry.

Agarwal also took the occasion to share the GJEPC’s pre-budget proposals for the industry, directed to the government. Agarwal stated that a pressing issue for the industry is IGST on re-imports of consignments which are exported through the consignment or exhibition mode. Agarwal also asked for a reduction on import duties on gold and polished diamonds.

“Made in India Silver jewellery has gradually made a mark in international markets with remarkably good designs, bold use of diamonds and coloured gemstones thereby adding more value addition,” said Agarwal. “I am sure buyers will get to see a range of innovative and trendy jewellery as per their needs and requirements.”
