The trade show is designed to promote Indian made goods and will feature product categories including handloom textiles, fashion accessories, wellness products, homeware, materials, and handicrafts as well as food items and natural goods, the event organisers announced on its website. The trade show describes itself as India’s first GI business-to-business fair and expects to bring together over 500 manufacturers and exporters under one roof.

The event will feature over 390 GI products from across India as well as over 200 handicraft and handloom products. The event is organised by the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts and supported by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade and Creative India Innovative India.

A ‘geographical indication’ product refers to an item which is manufactured, natural, or agricultural and originates from a definite geographical territory. The term GI is designed to act as quality assurance and authentication. Well known GI products are pashminas from Kashmir and Chappal from Kolhapur among others.
