The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council hosted IDW from Tuesday to Thursday with the aim of developing long-lasting trade relationships between international gem and jewellery businesses. Indian businesses showcased their products to international buyers from Australia, China, Egypt, France, Greece, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Lebanon, Russia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, the UK, Ukraine, the US, and Uzbekistan, the GJEPC posted on its website.

The GJEPC’s executive director, Sabyasachi Ray, called the event the “right time to conduct business” as he said the market appears to be recovering from a recent slump. The first two days of the event featured one-on-one sessions for business networking and the third and final day allowed for open interactions.

The GJEPC’s convener of the international exhibitions sub committee, Dilip Shah, said that the event also allowed Indian buyers to network with the Indian jewellery businesses to forge domestic distribution ties.

Chairman of the GJEPC, Pramod Kumar Agrawal, also spoke at the event and welcomed the response from global buyers. Agrawal also spoke about the Jewellery Park project in Mumbai and the upcoming India Gem & Jewellery Show, scheduled to take place in Jaipur in 2020.
