India Design Week debut edition to begin in April in Mumbai

The debut edition of the India Design Week will be held on April 29 and 30 at the CIDCO Exhibition Center, Vashi, Navi Mumbai. The event has been conceptualised by the designer duo of Deepshikha and Nidhi Chaudhary.

The India Design Week will see participation by fashion, textile, knitwear, lifestyle and accessories designers along with craft artisans who will showcase their creations through runway shows and exhibitions.
 
The design week aims to give a platform to artisans and young designer from across the country to showcase their talent at a national platform and give them a market to sell their products.

Talking about the event, Deepshikha Chaudhary, co-founder of India Design Week in a statement said, "With India Design Week we strive to focus on positive fashion, creating a platform designed to celebrate diversity, sustainability, craftsmanship and new talent where the young designers, artisans can connect to direct buyers and get appreciated for their art and efforts,” said.
 
Nidhi Chaudhary, added, "Creating a platform to save dying crafts and boost young talents of other sectors like knitwear, textile, and lifestyle of India is our originality. India has a vast range of rich crafts and tradition, and fashion and textile is an essential dose of any person’s lifestyle and if we combine it with Indian craft its identity changes completely.”
 
India Design Week is expecting a footfall of over more than 2,000 visitors for its debut edition and aims to be one of the highest profile fashion events in the country.
