India Design Gallery at Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair showcases contemporary talent

The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council has brought a group of its Artisan Awards participants to showcase fine jewellery at its India Design Gallery at the ongoing Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair.  

The GJEPC has shone the spotlight on young Indian jewellery designers at the 2019 edition of the Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair. The India Design Gallery is located within the India Pavilion and runs for the duration of the fair at its Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre location until September 22.  

The jewellery on show as part of the India Design Gallery is inspired by the theme “Cosmos” and aims to represent upcoming consumer trends in jewellery for 2020. The jewellery features cosmic elements in pieces including rings, pendants, earrings, and bracelets. 

All jewellery on show at the India Design Gallery was created by participants in the GJEPC’s most recent Artisan Awards. Speaking about the designs on show, the GJEPC’s convenor promotions and marketing sub-committee member Milan Chokshi said, “as part of the design galleries across the world, these pieces will be a showcase of India’s ascent as a dominant player in the world of jewellery design,” as reported on the GJEPC’s website.

“The India Design Gallery highlights some of the finest contemporary jewellery available from India today,” said the GJEPC vice chairman Colin Shah. “The jewellery, designed and manufactured in different parts of India, has one thing in common– it is timeless jewellery for the world. Indian jewellers and craftsmen cater to the most demanding customers across the globe. India’s ability to satiate any kind of jewellery requirements has always amazed the world. This has been possible due to Industry’s willingness to embrace and adopt the latest technology.”
