The upcoming store will be connected to the Nagasandra metro station to enable ease of access to the retail outlet, the Times of India reported. The store will measure over five lakh square feet and will employ between 800 and 1,000 direct workers as well as create a further 1,500 indirect jobs for services such as assembly and delivery.

Ahead of the opening, the CEO of Ikea’s owner Ingka Group, Jesper Brodin met with Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai at the Davos economic summit in Switzerland, ET Bureau reported.  The meeting was also attended by the state’s industries minister Murugesh Nirani and chief minister's principal secretary N Manjunath among others. The meeting addressed Ikea’s issues relating to its extensive use of bamboo and other locally available raw materials to manufacture its products.

Ikea’s head office in India is located in Bengaluru and the business also has stores in Mumbai and Hyderabad. Ikea manufactures a sizeable portion of the products it retails in India in the country itself.
