Ikea had shut down its store in the city of Hyderabad on March 20 and stopped its online sales, due to the Covid-19 outbreak in the country and subsequent lockdowns.

With the Indian government announcing relaxation of the lockdown with the reopening of malls, restaurants, and places of worship from June 8, Ikea has also decided to finally open its store by following all the necessary protocols.

Commenting on the reopening of its store, Aurelie Raimon, Hyderabad store manager at Ikea in a statement said: “As we reopen our store, health and safety of co-workers and customers are our topmost priority. We have put strong safety measures throughout the store, so that our customers and co-workers feel safe and confident coming back to the store.”

"Having said that, we will be limiting the number of visitors, in adherence to social distancing norms. We also strongly encourage customers to use our new click and collect service which is totally contactless and safe,” he added

Last week, Ikea had restarted its online services in the country with its newly introduced 'click-and-collect', a safe and contactless shopping experience.
