IFFD postpones India Runway Week’s April edition due to coronavirus concern

The Indian Federation for Fashion Development has decided to postpone its upcoming edition of India Runway Week, as fears of coronavirus spreading across India increase daily.

 
The IFFD’s India Runway Week was scheduled to take place from April 3 to 5 in New Delhi, but it has been postponed, due to fears over the coronavirus outbreak, the event announced in a press release.

India Runway Week Founder Avinash Pathania said that the virus will cause “significant impact” to the Indian fashion industry.

“It’ll disrupt the ecosystem supported by the fashion shows and exhibition. As the number of coronavirus cases continues to grow in New Delhi and keeping the health and safety of you, we request you not to book flights and hotels for the IFFD’s India Runway Week till next official email,” said the IFFD, in a statement.
 
As of Thursday evening, there are 30 confirmed coronavirus cases in India. All international arrivals at Indian airports will be screened for the virus and several businesses, including Paytm, have temporarily closed offices, in a bid to counter its spread.
 
The current death toll of the virus is around 3,000 with most deaths in China, where coronavirus originated.
