M&B Footwear’s subsidiary ID have announced that they will open 50 flagship stores across all major Indian cities as they roll out a youth focused expansion strategy.
Aiming to solidify their position as a leading young person’s footwear brand in India, ID are about to launch a major retail expansion.
Director of M&B Footwear, Inder Dev Singh Musafir, said: “ID’s core consumer falls between the age group of 18-25 years, mostly college goers and young professionals,” and so the brand is also pursuing a social media based marketing strategy to appeal to young consumers.
“As of now we have limited offline presence,” said Musafir who stated that the brand’s main strongholds are in South and West India. This looks set to change with 50 new flagship stores on the horizon. “As part of our expansion strategy, we are launching exclusive ranges through modern retail and MBOs [multi-brand outlets] currently only in these two regions [South and West]. Other markets will be targeted in the forthcoming season.”
ID footwear is currently available across 300 stores including in Metro, Lifestyle, Central, Shoppers Stop, Reliance and selective regional chain stores and MBOs. “By the end of 2018, we plan to have the ID brand selling through over 2,000 doors across India, this being possible, thanks to the our company’s well established and very strong distribution and modern retail network already being in place,” said Musafir.
