A team of 10 INIFD students from its Amritsar branch will showcase designs at the ‘Vibrant India’ showcase, which is scheduled during New York Fashion Week, the institute announced on Facebook. The event will give the students a taste of the international fashion industry and promote Indian design in the U.S.

“It is definitely a big achievement for us to work under the guidance of top celebrity fashion stylist and designer like Joseph Toronka, who is also the consultant styling faculty at the London College of Fashion,” INIFD student designer Radhika told The Tribune about the opportunity.

“We took almost a month to complete the project, including concept and implementing each element of the dress.”

“The concept was about the traditional Indian design in modern context,” this year’s INIFD team mentor Ragini Gauri told The Tribune.

“Our dress will be showcased at a special show dedicated to Indian fashion trends. It was the biggest opportunity one could get and since the design and concept was about presenting ‘traditionality’ with softer and global appeal, we think it will definitely be appreciated.”
